Taking good care of your fursuit starts before you even put it on. We can avoid most of the damages, stains and odors by taking simple precautions. As a human being(?) who has been wearing fursuit for more than 10 years, I would like to give you some conscientious advice.

Maintain good hygiene habits. This is the most important thing! Bacteria and odors like textiles and a warm, humid environment. We can’t avoid naturally occurring body odors, but don’t let those odor-producing bacteria breed in a hotbed. Clean ourselves thoroughly before we put on our fursuits, using shampoo, soap or your favorite cleaning products to scrub ourselves clean, or use deodorant or antiperspirant if needed.

Wear appropriate underwear, I recommend spandex long-sleeved trousers, or a one-piece to keep comfortable and clean from the inside out. Human skin will continue to secrete oil and shed dead skin flakes, and then trapped in the clothing, these oils and flakes will help bacteria breed and increase the odor. If we set up a barrier between the fursuit and the skin, our fursuit will stay brighter. If you can’t wash your clothes in time for a cons or a trip, bring a few extra sets of underwear or hand wash them when you have time to prevent bacteria and odors.

In addition, scout the environment. Before putting on your fursuit, be sure to familiarize yourself with the danger areas of the location!!! Puddles, mud, steps, pools, and even drinks and food can all stain our fursuits. And when we put our heads on, these things may be even more difficult to avoid, so be sure to make sure before wearing the fursuit!

Stay away from all dangerous areas!!! Always be aware of our surroundings and stay away from all hazardous areas!!! Food residues may be difficult to clean; open flames can burn textile products and our fursuits; chlorine in the pool water may damage the fur material, and fursuits that has been saturated with water may be stretched due to the weight of the water, all of which may shorten the life of the fursuits. It may even cause burns or drowning due to the burning of the fursuit or the extra weight when it is filled with water, so I ask you not to do this. Please!!!

Avoid excessive activity!!! Burst seams, damaged fabric, and missing claws and teeth are often the result of excessive activity. Even though the studio makes our fursuits very sturdy, over time, as the material ages, excessive activity can cause damage, common sense, right?

Also, don’t make sudden moves when you don’t know what’s around you. The person next to you may be serving a plate of gooey cheese pizza, which smells good, but is also hard to wash. Always check your surroundings and don’t think that you are the only one in the world who can move!

Cleaning the body and tail (fursuit’s)
Cleaning paws and feet-paws (fursuit’s)
Deep cleaning the head, both inside and outside (fursuit’s)
By the way, clean the whole body (yours)

After each fursuiting, check the fursuit thoroughly from the ear-tip to the tail-tip, looking for any stains or damages. If necessary, use a wet towel and disinfectant spray to clean the stain. Make a note of any parts that need attention so that you can confirm them later. If possible, hang the coat on a broad-shouldered hanger and groom it if you have time.

If you are only wearing it lightly (for short periods of time without a lot of sweating), hang up the fursuit and dry it thoroughly with a fan (cool air). The head can be well ventilated with a small fan. If there is still some time before the next use, turn out the inside of the suit and spray it with a disinfectant spray. The inside of the paws should be sprayed with disinfectant spray and air dried, and the inside of the feet-paws can be sprayed with alcohol or shoe spray to remove odors. Remember that when you spray the disinfectant spray, do not wear it until it is completely dry!!! After heavy use, please clean all parts of the fursuit completely and carefully.

We recommend using a front-loaded washer. If the washer is large enough to accommodate the entire body, a up-loaded washer is also possible.

Full suit’s tails usually attached to the body, but even if they are separate tails, they could be cleaned in the same way as the body parts. If your tail has a padding inside that cannot be disassembled, please allow more drying time for these special types of tails.

Hand paws with plastic claws or rubber pads can only be hand washed with detergent. Or use a specialized cleaning machine (see below). Only plush hand paws can be washed in the washing machine.

To dry washed paws, hang them up with a clip and use a high velocity fan for at least a day. During the drying process, groom regularly in the direction of the fur, at least once or twice.

Clean the interior with a disinfectant spray after wearing to keep the interior fresh. Dry completely before the next use. Feet-paws with plastic claws or rubber pads can only be hand washed with detergent. Or use a specialized cleaning machine (see below). All plush feet-paws can be washed in the washing machine.

To dry washed feet-paws, place it in front of a high velocity fan for one to two days. During the drying process, groom them regularly in the direction of the fur, at least once or twice. And make sure the inside and outside are completely dry.

Please note that it is important to protect the eyes of the fursuit head from cleaning agents during all cleaning processes. Many cleaning agents may damage the surface of the eyes and even cause discoloration.

You can use the specialized cleaning machine to deep clean the head, what we use is Bissel’s machine, very simple and fast, you can following the instructions to many related videos on the Internet.

Spraying the inside of the head with a disinfectant spray will keep the inside fresh. Avoid spraying directly onto the eye area and make sure the interior is completely dry before the next suiting.

Spot clean the outside with a moist towel. If water doesn’t do the work, try a mixture of baking soda and water: make a paste and apply it to the stained area, rubbing gently. Rub until it’s removed and then wipe it off with a wet towel or brush it off with a comb when it is dry.
